Surfing In Santa Teresa

327

We decided to go surfing in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica on a whim. It was a little slice of Heaven. The most picturesque place, nestled along the stunning Nicoya Peninsula with the most incredible beaches. Its raw natural beauty, artsy charm, and slow pace of life ignited my desire to drop everything and embrace the life of a forever traveler! Santa Teresa is such an enchanting and captivating coastal town, that now holds a very special place in my heart!

Starting the Adventure

We began with the most beautiful views. Soaring over crystal blue water and hidden coves on a single propeller plane from San José to Tamarindo. The company we went through was Sansa Airlines, and they were great!

House of Somos

We stayed at House of Somos—a surf hotel located on the main strip in Santa Teresa. It’s a 2 minute walk from the beach—making it the perfect location if you’re looking to do early morning surf sessions or just enjoy a walk on he beach at sunrise. The style of Somos was beautiful, bohemian, luxury paired with nature. This made it the best cozy haven and home base for a surf adventure.

One of my favorite things about House of Somos is that it isn’t just a place to stay. They embraced the Santa Teresa community in every way. House of Somos felt like a thriving community for every age group. From hosting local events, art exhibitions, and live music performances—the atmosphere was always lively! It’s truly the perfect place to stay if you’re looking to enjoy the area while forming connections with like-minded travelers, other remote workers, and locals.

Sunset Dreams

Sunsets in Santa Teresa are heavenly. The sky is painted in hues of orange, pink, and purple, casting a dreamy haze across the sandy beaches. Santa Teresa is a place to slow down and appreciate the simple, yet magnificent beauties of creation! We went on evening walks down the shoreline at dusk, the sound of crashing waves in the background, communities gathering to watch the sun dip below the horizon. I loved the beach felt like a community in itself.

Many of the restaurants, shops, and hotels had open-air designs connecting the indoors and outdoors! This created a serene ambiance that blended modern design with nature!

Surfing Every Morning

This was by far the highlight and heart of the trip. Wake up at 5:30, surf. Breakfast, surf. Lunch & nap, sunset surf session. The waves were incredible and consistent, making it an unbelievable place to improve and just enjoy the sport!
