Why I Love Labneh?

Labneh is a creamy, thick, and tangy yogurt that’s great as a dip, spread, side, or condiment. Made with just three ingredients – Greek yogurt, garlic powder, and salt – it’s incredibly simple yet incredibly flavorful. Despite its intense flavor, labneh is a versatile ingredient that goes really well with savory spices and vegetables or sweetened with honey and fruit. Not to mention—it’s packed with protein!

How To Make Easy Labneh Greek Yogurt

When making Labneh you typically strain it, but I decided to make a quicker & easier version that just requires mixing greek yogurt, garlic, powder, and salt. It’s then topped with pan-seared chickpeas, parsley, cherries, pistachios, lemon zest, and everything bagel seasoning!

Labneh Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Greek Yogurt
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 2 Teaspoons Salt

Toppings

Step-By-Step

In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, garlic powder, and salt. I recommend using Fage Greek Yogurt for its creamy texture, but any unsweetened Greek yogurt will work.

Spread the labneh on a plate or in a shallow bowl.

In a frying pan, brown a can of chickpeas on medium heat for about 10 minutes. Be sure to stir consistently. Season with cumin, garlic powder, and salt for extra flavor and crunch.

Finely chop parsley, pit and chop cherries into small chunks.

Top the labneh with olive oil, a squeeze of lemon juice and zest, crispy chickpeas, parsley, pistachios, cherries, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.

What I Like To Pair With This Labneh

I typically make chicken kababs, crispy rice, and everything bagel bites to go with my labneh. It is such an incredible meal. Here’s how to make this labneh recipe a meal!

  • For the Chicken Kababs—Cut 4 chicken thighs into 1 inch pieces and marinaded in 1 cup of greek yogurt, 1 lemon juiced, 1 tablespoon of garlic powder & cumin, and a teaspoon of turmeric and salt! Let them sit for at least an hour (the longer they sit the more flavor) and then put them onto wooden skewer sticks! Sear and fry on medium heat until the chicken cooks all the way through. Chicken is generally safe to eat once it’s reached 165 degrees.
  • For the Crispy Rice—I was given a Persian crispy rice cooker and it has changed my life! It makes the most delicious rice and all I have to do is add a cup of rice, a cup of water, a little bit of salt, olive oil…then set the knob to how browned I want the bottom of the rice to be. I mean come on—amazing!
  • For the Everything Bagel Bites—Begin by preheating the oven to 350°. In a medium bowl combine the gluten free flour, garlic powder, & salt. Add the greek yogurt and mix well until it is a sticky dough. Roll the dough into about 2-inch balls. Sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning on a plate and roll each ball until coated in the seasoning. Bake for about 20 minutes or until you see they are slightly golden brown.
Everything but the bagel bites with the recipe.
